ESL Instructor at Westlake LDS Community Center. Westlake, OH (2012). Taught a weekly ESL class for Spanish-speaking adults in the greater Cleveland area. Served as English-Spanish interpreter during nationwide satellite broadcasts.

Commercial Projects
Freelance Spanish Translator and editor (2004 – present). Worked on numerous projects, ranging
from medical website content to educational materials, and community outreach literature.

Multilingual Connections (February 2013-present). Part-time, off-site English-Spanish proofreader and translator.

AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland (ATGC). Spanish Translator and Website Content
Author (2007-2008). Single-handedly translated manuals and documents on AIDS medical
research, public policy, employment issues, and community outreach. Translated/mirrored
English website into Spanish.

Hartville Migrant Worker Clinic (Hartville, Ohio; July - August 2006). Spanish Translator
and Interpreter. Assisted with the language needs of medical staff and patients. Translated
written materials and provided interpretation during medical visits and/or examinations.

Elgin Community College
Adjunct instructor of Spanish (2012-2013). Elementary & Intermediate-level courses.

The University of Akron
Instructor of Spanish (2007-2012). Taught one summer course in 2007 after which was offered a
one-year, full-time contract. Subsequently applied for a renewable position and was selected from several candidates.

Director of study abroad program in Valladolid, Spain (2008 - 2012). Singlehandedly
organized program for 15-20 students attending summer courses at the Universidad de Valladolid (UVa). In charge of promoting, planning, and implementing program prior and during stay in Spain. Developed extracurricular activities for all courses taken during the program. Served as the University of Akron liaison with UVa faculty and administration.

Assistant to director of study abroad program in Valladolid, Spain (June -July 2008).
Designed written and oral activities for 13 students attending Spanish courses at the University of Valladolid (UVa).

Course Coordinator for Spanish 201 (Intermediate Spanish I). In charge of planning materials for
all Spanish 201 instructors. Extensive use of multimedia technology, web-based course management system (Springboard), blogging platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Proposed and developed new course, “Introduction to Spanish Translation (Spanish
422),” (January 2010).

Other department duties include the planning and implementation of the Spanish Conversation Hour (Tertulia), member of the planning committee, and collaboration in coordinating the curriculum for Spanish composition courses.

Kent State University
